MOCK PAPER RELEASED

The papers for the mock exams were released yesterday.

The highest score for the paper was by a student in Group 8, Noel who obtained 99 marks followed by her close friend Xin Wei who manged to get 95 marks.

The overall analysis of the paper is as follows:

1) The Friday paper was handled well by most of the students, where the pass rate was significantly higher then the Saturday paper.

2) It seems that on Saturday, there were many cases of students that seems to be focused on the questions that came out on Friday......in other words they were just plain lazy, NOT READING UP THE AREAS THAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE DONE.

3) Suprisingly the best results were actually obtained from the Saturday paper, even though I felt that it was set at more harder scale.

4) Most students displayed a poor attempt in most of the question, indicating a lack of reading as well as preparation. This was considered an easy paper as the areas of focus was already highlighted to the students and yet there seems to be no interest to do up the reading.

5) There were some cases where the students did manage to read the revision kits and regurgitate the answer....well it may and may not be sufficient as indicated during the EDC/EFC classes.

6) Students that did prepare were awarded well for their effort.

NOW MY CONCLUSION FOR THE STUDENTS BY MARKS

MARKS
0 - 9
YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE IN THE COURSE! You either have one of the following issues: extremely poor english and therefore should not be in this course. My recommendation for you is to drop the paper and focus your effort on the paper that you did better.

10 - 19
YOU DID NOT PUT IN THE EFFORT! In this situation you have to assess your ability and consider what are you doing? How is the results for the other papers, is it slightly better only but still a fail, or is it no better? If it is no better - then pick one or two subjects amd focus your effort. In this case this paper should be on the final choice, so drop the paper if you can.

20 - 29
YOU DID NOT PUT IN THE EFFORT REQUIRED! In this situation, I can say that you could have made it if you had put in the extra effort. Lets say that this result is the effort of 4 hours, you will need to put in 4 times the effort for the mock to generate a pass level score in the final. If you can commit yourself to this effort then GO FOR IT, else quit the paper

30 - 39
YOU ARE IN MARGINAL ZONE. Well you belong to a sad group of people that could have passed well if you had injected a bit of effort. I would say that marking you at this level made me wonder......is this the best this person could do? My advice for you to really decide what went wrong and come and talk to me on the next course of action

IF YOU ARE IN THE ABOVE CATEGORY, I AM INDEED VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH YOUR PERFORMANCE......I HOPE YOU WILL HAVE THE COURTESY TO FIND YOUR WAY BEFORE IT IS TO LATE.

40 - 49
BORDERLINE. NEEDS TO PUT IN A BIT MORE EFFORT AS WELL AS PRACTISE MORE PAST YEAR PAPERS FOR THE FINAL. YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE WHOLE LIST OF QUESTIONS GIVEN IN THE EDC/EFC.

50 - 59
IF THE EFFORT LEVEL YOU PUT IN WAS HIGH TO GET HIS THEN I MIGHT BE WORRIED, ELSE CONTINUE THE SAME STYLE

60 and above
CONGRATULATIONS, IF YOU ARE AT THIS LEVEL, EXCELLENT. YOU DESERVE TO BE PRAISED. I AM ACTUALLY PROUD TO HAVE TAUGHT YOU ALL THIS WHILE AND YOU DEFINETELY MAKE ME PROUD TOO. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND HOPE YOU IMPROVE ON THE SCORE YOU HAD HERE.

The papers discussion will be placed here by next week....so you can discover where actually you went wrong, I would suggest that you get a model answer ready for each one first then compare it.

Ready for EDC/EFC Paper 5 CAT ACCA

Well come this November you will have to be ready for the revision classes.

What is expected from you in the class:

1. Be sure that you have atleast some idea of each chapter and its contents
2. Pay attention in class and ask the intelligent questions
3. Be serious in the class - have a clear objective of what you want to get from the class
4. No time for too much fun in the class

Before you enter the EDC/EFC class:
1. Make sure you have atleast reviewed all the maps in the class and know what is inside it
2. Review most of the questions in the BPP book
3. If you have been told to memorize any details -check and see if it is in your memory

That is all the advice I can give for now......so be ready for the torture.
